A community celebration of culture, stories, and shared heritage.

Chelmsford Multicultural & Heritage Day

Celebrating Our Cultures, Honouring Our Heritage, Bringing Communities Together.

In 2026, ISA.connect CIC is proud to launch the first Chelmsford Multicultural & Heritage Day, a new community celebration inspired by the voices of the people we serve.

As part of our commitment to community-led projects, we carried out extensive community engagement to understand what local people wanted from a multicultural and heritage event. Through conversations with residents, our members, partner organisations and an online community consultation shared across our social media platforms, we invited people to share their ideas, suggestions and hopes for the day.

We received valuable feedback from people of different cultures, backgrounds and generations. The overwhelming response was a desire for an event that celebrates the rich diversity of Chelmsford while creating opportunities for people to learn about one another’s cultures, share traditions, celebrate heritage and build stronger community connections.

This project is proudly funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are able to bring this exciting new community event to Chelmsford, celebrating the diverse cultures, stories and heritage that make our community unique while creating opportunities for people to connect, learn and build lasting relationships.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create an annual community celebration where everyone feels welcomed, valued and represented.

We want Chelmsford Multicultural & Heritage Day to become a lasting legacy that celebrates the unique cultures, histories and traditions that shape our town. By bringing people together through shared experiences, we hope to promote inclusion, encourage meaningful conversations and inspire a greater appreciation of the diverse communities that call Chelmsford home.

Why It Matters

We believe that understanding one another begins with conversation.

By creating opportunities for people to share their stories, traditions and experiences, we can break down barriers, celebrate our differences and discover the values we have in common.

Chelmsford Multicultural & Heritage Day is more than a celebration. It is an opportunity to build friendships, strengthen community relationships, celebrate our shared heritage and create a greater sense of belonging for everyone.

Looking Ahead

Although 2026 marks the first Chelmsford Multicultural & Heritage Day, our ambition is for this event to become a much-loved annual tradition that continues to grow year after year.

Together with our community, partners and volunteers, we hope to create a lasting legacy that celebrates culture, preserves heritage and brings people together for generations to come.
